2nd Annual Hickman County Banana Pudding Cook-Off Winner is…..
Congratulations to Reba Winters for winning the 2nd Annual Hickman County Banana Pudding Cook-Off!!! Ms. Winters competed on Sat. Aug. 6, 2011 with 6 other finalist for the coveted title of “The Best Banana Pudding in Hickman Co.”, a spot in the National Banana Pudding Cook-Off on Oct. 1, and $500.00. Diana Lee Bailey was the 2nd place runner up and Fay Henson was the winner of the People’s Taste Award. The top finalists in no specific order were Martha Harvill, Fay Henson, Mandy King, Glenda Lovell, and Linda Rollins. There was some awesome banana pudding to be had on Sat. at the Bon Aqua United Methodist Church where the local Banana pudding cook-off was held. McDonald Funeral Home sponsored the event along with Joyce Boyd Avon and the Hickman Co. Hospital. The esteemed judges for 2011 were Maria Casto, Carolyn Chandler, Sam Gay, Michelle Hamm, Janie McClanahan, and Faye Rogers all of Hickman County.
USDA State Director Bobby Goode and Faye Rodgers also of the USDA were on hand to present the NBPF with a $5000.00 matching marketing grant to promote the festival, and Hickman Co.
Rules and Guidelines for the National Banana Pudding Cook-Off are available online at www.bananapuddingfest.org or pick them up at the Hickman County Chamber Office or the Hickman County Red Cross Office. Recipe submission deadline is Sept. 1, 2011.
